Milk.

Human milk sits at the meeting point of biology, care and culture. It is intimate and familiar, yet it offers a world of questions when viewed through a microscope.

Mother’s Milk is an installation in development that brings these ways of seeing together. Microscopy, cultural images and lived experience form the starting point for a project about motherhood and the stories that shape scientific attention.

What becomes visible when we give human milk sustained scientific attention? How do images of motherhood influence what we expect of women, and what we choose to investigate?

These questions guide the project’s development. We want to bring the perspective of the laboratory into conversation with the experiences of people whose lives are connected to the subject.

The project explores ongoing inquiry. Its scientific story will develop with the researchers and the evidence, without treating the promise of research as a medical outcome.

We are developing a spatial film installation that brings microscopic images, cultural representations and personal voices into a shared environment.

We welcome conversations with cultural venues, researchers and partners who can help shape and support the work. The exhibition format and presentation dates are still in development.
